Contact lenses
Your contact lens prescription is yours.
Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy of your contact lens prescription when the fitting is finished, and if a seller calls to verify it, we confirm it.
A contact lens exam adds a fitting to the eye exam: the measurements, a trial pair and a lens handling lesson.
What happens at the visits
- 01
Step 1: Eye exam and measurements
The eye exam, plus the curve of the front of each eye.
- 02
Step 2: Trial pair
You wear a trial pair, and we check how they sit and how they feel.
- 03
Step 3: Handling lesson
Putting lenses in and taking them out, cleaning them and how long to wear them.
- 04
Step 4: Follow-up
A short check a week or two later, then at your yearly exam.
Billing and what to bring
Vision plan
The exam is billed to a vision plan. A contact lens fitting is a separate service and may be partly covered.
Medical insurance
A visit for an eye problem, such as irritation from lenses, is usually billed to medical insurance.
Bring with you
Your current lenses and the box or case
Vision plan and medical insurance cards
Your glasses
About contact lenses
Can my child wear contact lenses?
Often yes. We teach the child and the parent, and fit the lens to the eye. Some children do better in glasses.
Can I have my contact lens prescription?
Yes. Your prescription is yours, and we release it when the fitting is finished.
How much will this cost?
It depends on the visit and on your plan. How fees work explains which part a vision plan pays, which part medical insurance pays and what you pay yourself, and we give a written estimate in advance.
